📘 Raynsford Academy – Equality Duty
Our Commitment to Equality
At Raynsford Church of England Academy, we are fully committed to upholding the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED). We ensure that:
-
Discrimination based on protected characteristics is eliminated
-
Equality of opportunity is advanced for all pupils and staff
-
Positive relationships are fostered among diverse groups
✅ Protected Characteristics We Consider
Our policies and decisions reflect due regard for:
-
Disability
-
Gender (including reassignment and pregnancy/maternity)
-
Race and ethnicity
-
Religion or belief
-
Sexual orientation
-
Age* and marital/civil partnership*
*These apply in particular contexts, such as employment
📊 Monitoring for Equality
We review and analyse outcome and performance data annually – including national measures such as SATs, phonics screening, EYFS results, and Multiplication Check scores – looking specifically at pupil groups who share protected characteristics, such as:
-
Pupils with SEND
-
Pupils eligible for Pupil Premium
-
EAL (English as an Additional Language) pupils
-
Gender and minority ethnic groups
Where significant gaps are identified, targeted support and interventions are put in place and carefully evaluated.
🛠 Embedding Equality into School Life
-
Policy Making: Equality is considered at every stage of policy development and review, not as an afterthought
-
Inclusive Practices: Adjustments are made to curriculum delivery, uniforms, worship, and assessment to ensure accessibility, dignity, and respect for all
-
Empowering Culture: We foster good relations and engagement through initiatives like “Owl Parliament”, diversity celebrations, Rights Respecting Schools work, and our inclusive worship and values programmes
