Walk of Light Step Challenge

Throughout March, we are proud to launch a whole-school fundraising initiative by taking part in Blood Cancer UK’s “Walk of Light Step Challenge.” Each day, the children will be moving around the MUGA, whether walking, jogging, dancing, or stretching, to support this meaningful cause.

This effort is thoughtfully organised by one of our Year 5 pupils, supported by his younger brother in Reception, as the charity holds personal significance for their family.

Every child has been given a sponsor form, where they can be sponsored either per day they move or for completing the challenge. Participation and donations are voluntary, but we hope this fosters movement, joy, and a spirit of giving.

To add an extra element of fun and motivation, we will also be running a friendly competition between our school houses. Each day, one house will wear pedometers and we will total their combined steps at the end of the day. A different house will take part each day, and by the end of the month-long challenge we will announce the house that has accumulated the highest number of steps.

We would also love families to continue the challenge over the weekends, perhaps with a family walk or activity together.

If you prefer to donate directly, you can visit their fundraising page: Blood Cancer UK – Step Challenge

Alternatively, at the end of the event, donations can be brought into school in cash or paid via ParentMail. All school-collected donations will then be added to the fundraising page total.

Thank you for your continued support.

Royal Academy of Arts Young Artists’ Summer Show

We are excited as a school to be taking part in the Royal Academy of Arts Young Artists’ Summer Show this year.

Any child under the age of 18 can enter, and artwork can be created individually or as a collaborative piece with friends or siblings, as long as all participants are under 18.

Children can produce an artwork on any theme, using a wide range of media. This could include a drawing, painting, photograph, sculpture, or another creative form.

To take part, parents must complete a consent form, which can be collected from your child’s teacher. Each child must also give their artwork a title and write a short description explaining what the work is about and what inspired it.

Parents can submit the artwork online using the following link:
https://youngartists.royalacademy.org.uk/submissions/2

If you experience any difficulties with submission, Mrs Provan is happy to submit the work on your behalf.

The deadline for submissions is 4th March 2026 at 5:00pm.

For inspiration, you can view examples of previous entries here:

We look forward to seeing the children’s creativity and hope many of our pupils choose to take part. 🎨
